Dear Larissa,

Today is an important day because you are receiving the visit of your sister , as well as your nephew and your brother in law. This week we will begin our lessons with regard to the test TOEIC ( Test of English for International Communication). The TOEIC test is the most widely used English exam in the international business world. That's why big companies like yours (Price WaterHouse) choose this test to evaluate how well their employes know English. Now, I know you might not be too excited about tests and exams as most of them are so called 'pass/fail tests'. This means, you can either pass or fail the exam. If you pass the exam, you will get a certificate. If you fail it, you will get nothing. The TOEIC test is different Larissa, and I think you will like what you will see: Nobody fails the TOEIC test -- everybody who takes the exam also passes it. Of course everybody gets a different score. If your English is very good,and I know it is, your TOEIC score will be higher than 850 points while intermediate students usually achieve between 550 and 700 points. A lot of TOEIC test candidates use to say that they are looking for an effective way of learning all the words they need to know to achieve a good TOEIC score. As you know, different people have different learning methods so we should try out a variety of learning activities and ideas to see what works best for you. * In this section of the test, you will have the chance to show how well you understand spoken English. There are four parts for this section with specific directions for each part.

* Part 1 - Photos
