1- Have got to



Larissa, pay attention on this grammar.

 




* Have got is used to express necessity and obligation.



Look at these examples below:



  * Drivers  have got to get a license to drive a car in Brazil.



  ...This sentence shows that a license is obligatory. So, without a license a driver has no legal permission to drive.



* - I have got to be at your apartment at 4:00 pm every wednesday.




...  I have the obligation to come on time.


 2- Had Better

"Had better" is most commonly used to make recommendations. It can also be used to express desperate hope as well as warn people.


Examples:


  • You had better take your umbrella with you today.         recommendation
  •  Maybe it will rain later , so you should take your umbrella with you
  • That bus had better get here soon!                                 desperate hope
  • I'm almost late to get to my meeting, for this reason I must take the bus now! 
  •  
  • You had better watch the way you talk to me in the future! warning
  • I'm not your relative so I want you choose better your words when you  talk to me.
  • ......................................................................................................................... 
3- - To see somebody alright -  to look after somebody

A- Don't worry about your daughter , we'll see her alright here.
B- I intend to see everyone alright but you need to understand that most people don't like to be helped.
